Boeing Continues to have Problems with 737 MAX

Weather and How It Affects Flights

Image
Weather affects everyone across the globe and, at times, affects airlines and travel. Unfortunately, airlines have no control over what Mother Nature decides to do. In January of this year, over 1000 flights were canceled, affecting domestic and international travel. Many travelers faced long delays due to high winds this year. Three types of winds can hinder an aircraft from landing or taking off: head, tail, and crosswinds. According to FAA statistics, weather causes approximately 70 percent of the delays in the National Airspace System (NAS). (Kulesa, 2002) Bad storms can also cause airports to close or cause take-off and landing issues; they could also cause flight diversions that cost operators more money in the long run due to fuel expenses, landing fees, and the loss of passengers' time. In addition to high winds, turbulence, thunderstorms, ceiling and visibility, and icing conditions also affect flights and can cause possib...

Aviation Security

Aviation Security and Layers of Security    One of the biggest issues facing the airline industry today, one that is becoming increasingly prominent, is the threat of cyber security.  Technological advances have come a long way and have revolutionized the aviation industry. This has paved the way for more efficient operations. These improvements entail making travel better for passengers, safety and security, innovations for flight, aircraft technology, automation and data exchange, business and operational management, and cloud computing. With all of this in mind, there is now an increased emphasis on improvements in the cybersecurity sector. Data gathered by Resilinc’s EventWatchAI – an AI-powered supply chain risk monitoring system – revealed a 24% YoY increase in the number of cyber attack alerts across all industries it monitors in the first half of this year. And the aerospace industry, specifically, saw an even more alarming jump of 64%. I...

Boeing's Continuing Troubles with 737 MAX By: Kenneth Huddleston       Boeing is a highly regarded name in the aviation industry and has been around since 1916. They have several contracts with the military to include the United States Army and Air Force. In 2018 and 2019 Boeing began having issues with their 737 MAX models, one that led to crashes resulting in the loss of 346 people between two separate incidents. Most recently there was a jet that lost a door plug during flight, resulting in an emergency landing and the grounding of about 171 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. Boeing continues to face issues with 737 MAX       Boeing is a highly regarded name in the aviation industry and has been around since 1916. On top of the loss of the aircraft in question, Alaska Airlines also had to ground 65 more of their Boeing 737s temporarily for maintenance and safety inspections according to NBC News. I chose this particular issue because this is not the first incident that has happened with the 737 MAX, and it has continued to have problems that plagued Boeing shortly after the plane entered into service in 2017. ...
